Tourism, as a social, cultural and economic phenomenon, but also with respect to consumption and production models, has evolved enormously these last decennia not only quantitatively, but especially in term of an increasing complexity. Tourism systems are now omnipresent, and the analysis and the management of these systems require a multidimensional approach where the territory is the connecting element.
The master course in Intercultural Development of Tourism Systems intends to provide the students with this interdisciplinary knowledge and with instruments to face these novelties. The course in advanced tourism economics wants to deepen the knowledge of the economic dimension of tourism systems.
The course in advanced tourism economics wants to deepen the knowledge of the economic dimension of tourism systems and supplies the students with the necessary toolbox to develop tourism systems rendering them both competitive and sustainable.
Sufficient knowledge of the complexity of tourism systems.
Each year a theme of particular relevance and actuality is defined together with an external partner together with a case study that links to this tourism economics theme.
The course is divided in two parts. In the first part, the theoretical issues regarding the theme are dealt with, while the second part is developed together with the external partner an consists of the case study.

Group work, presented to the external partner. Being a lab, and moreover non compulsory, only students actively participating in the course are evaluated.
