The course is one of the core educational activities characterizing the degree course. Its goal is to provide students with basic knowledge on the logic that guides the collection and use of financial resources in the company, with a focus on the drivers of business growth.
Knowledge and understanding:
1) knowledge and understanding of the determinants of short and long-term financial needs
2) knowledge and understanding of the risk-return relationship
3) knowledge and understanding of the main sources of financing for the company to support growth

Ability to apply knowledge and understanding:
1) knowing how to determine the cash flows for the company, from a historical and prospective perspective
2) knowing how to evaluate the profitability of a business investment

Judgment skills:
1) knowing how to choose the most suitable source of financing for the type of financial requirement;
2) knowing how to understand the risk profile of the various financing transactions.
Basics of financial statement analysis
The course addresses the following topics:
1) Determination of cash flows
2) Self-financing, working capital management and growth
3) Forecast of short-term flows and sources of short-term financing
5) Alternative finance: minibonds, crowdfunding, invoice trading, direct lending, ICOs
6) Business angels, Private Equity and Venture Capital
8) Listing processes: IPOs
9) The evaluation of business investments
10) The cost of capital
Book and materials will be communicated during the first lecture of the course and on Moodle.
The exam is written and consists of 3 parts: 10 multiple choice questions (no penalty in case of error or no-answer), one open question, one exercise. Each part is scored a maximum of 10 points. The final grade is the sum of the three parts.
The teaching method consists of frontal lessons, applications and analysis of real cases.
