The teaching falls within the characterizing teachings of the China, Korea and Japan curricula of the "Languages, Cultures and Societies of Asia and Mediterranean Africa" course.
Its educational objectives fall within the area of learning language skills, as well as culture and humanities.
Knowledge and understanding:
- Know and understand the fundamentals of the Vietnamese language at level A1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
- acquire awareness of the cultural aspects that derive from the acquisition of language
- acquire the tools to deepen an appreciation of the Vietnamese language

Ability to apply knowledge and understanding:
- know how to deal with basic conversation situations
- be able to apply knowledge of culture to basic conversation situations
A desire to learn other languages and cultures
An introduction to the fundamentals of the Vietnamese language for absolute beginners. We will learn, among other things, greetings, modes of address, and how to introduce oneself and family members.

In-class quizzes and written final exam. Verification of oral language skills will take place throughout the semester. With some exceptions, the final exam will be written. The written final exam is 2 hours.
