The teaching falls within the characterizing teachings of the China, Korea and Japan curricula of the "Languages, Cultures and Societies of Asia and Mediterranean Africa" course.
Its educational objectives fall within the area of learning language skills, as well as cultural and humanities.
Knowledge and understanding:
- Know and understand the fundamentals of the Vietnamese language at level B1 & B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
- acquire awareness of the cultural aspects that derive from the acquisition of language
- acquire the tools to deepen an appreciation of the Vietnamese language

Ability to apply knowledge and understanding:
- know how to deal with basic conversation with more mastery
- be able to apply knowledge of culture to more complex conversation situations acquire awareness of the cultural aspects that derive from the acquisition of language

Vietnamese language 2 (or equivalent proficiency)
An introduction to the fundamentals of the Vietnamese language.
The course’s content consists of two main parts: dialogue part and narrative part.

The dialogue part brings the student closer to the real Vietnamese colloquial language, as it’ s currently spoken in Hanoi. In this way the student will be able to participate in engaging conversations on diffrent topics.
The narrative part, includes written materials characteristic of the formal Vietnamese language and aims to develop reading and writting skills as well as speaking presentation on a given theme.
The lesson focus on the different aspects of current life in Vietnam, including culture, cinema, literature, theater, music, folk arts.
Each lesson seeks to help the student to build a deeper knowledg of the Vietnamese language, making use of complementary elements to further develop reading, writting, listening and speaking skills.

The majority of exercises are drawn from Vietnamese newspapers, magazines and books, in order to give the student an opportunuty to pratice reading autentic and complex texts, also thanks to use of the dictionary.
In addition, the course provides informations relating to each theme in the lessons, thus offering useful practical information for exemple applying for an entry visa to Vietnam, or opening a bank account, or knowledge of the organization of Vietnamese government, or even current events in the world of entertainment and more.

Verification of oral language skills will take place throughout the semester. With some exceptions, the final exam will be written.
