As part of the master's degree program in TRANSMEDITERRANEAN STUDIES: MIGRATION, COOPERATION AND DEVELOPMENT, the teaching of PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND THE MEDITERRANEAN provides students with essential skills for their future work, such as the presentation of projects and their planning , as well as reporting. The training objectives are: a) to develop basic knowledge of the context of project development; b) provide a clear and precise working methodology in terms of progression / dimensions / elements, based on best practices; c) Analysis of key concepts and guidelines for effective project management through concrete examples of learning offered by this course.
Knowledge:
(i) logic and principles of the funding programs
(ii) evaluation criteria;
(iii) methodological approach (project cycle management)
Skills
(i) identification of project proposals;
(ii) formulation of project proposals;
iii) project management and evaluation;
(iv) development of the logical framework and use of this tool for correct project management;
(v) preparation of forecast plans and accounting reports
(vi) elaboration and analysis of project budgets.
No particular prerequisites are required, apart from concepts of general economic and geopolitical culture
The course will take place over 30 hours, in which the following topics will be addressed:
definition of project and planning; strengths and weaknesses of the design activity; PCM approach (project cycle management): the phases of the PCM (planning, identification, formulation, implementation, evaluation).
Most used design tools and best practices for trans-Mediterranean planning.
Strategic project planning tools: SWOT analysis, search for opportunities in problems, problem solving exercise.
The formalization of projects and their presentation.
Quantitative planning: the budget, drafting and presentation rules.
Procedures for verifying the assumptions made in the budget.
Implementation and reporting of projects.
Ongoing monitoring and final project evaluation.
Exercises on the different topics of the course.
Slides and materials that will be made available online on the Moodle platform of the course.
Written exam on the topics of the course (50% of the grade) consisting of 10 multiple choice questions (3 points for each correct answer; 0 points for each wrong or not given answer). No penalty for wrong or missed answer. Minimum mark to pass the exam: 18, without considering presentations.

Presentation of projects during the lessons (50% evaluation). For non-attending students, the presentation of their project can take place with a written report to be sent by e-mail to the teacher at least one week before the exam date.
The teaching includes elements of frontal lessons, project work and problem-based learning in groups (project preparation) and role play (project presentation).
