This is one of the basic courses within the common route of the Corso di Laurea "Languages, Cultures and Societies of Asia and Mediterranean Africa".
Its formative objectives are within the area of language skills learning.
- Knowledge and understanding
Ability to complete the knowledge of the grammatical structures of the French language at level B1 (base/intermediate etc.)
Knowledge and understanding of the functions of the grammatical structures of the French language at level B1

- Ability to apply knowledge and understanding:
Ability to identify the different grammatical categories and their properties
Ability to demonstrate a general understanding of the basic grammatical structures of the French language
Ability to describe the constructions and grammatical phenomena studied during the teaching using correctly the terminology and the basic tools of the acquired syntactic analysis
Absolute beginners can attend the course. It is recommended to attend the practical language courses held by the foreign language assistant Stéphanie Leroy (stephanie.leroy@unive) during the first and second semester (see the moodle page)
Students will be offered different kinds of texts and audio documents (taken from essays, articles, etc..) in French, mainly related to their geographical-linguistic field of study, the texts will be addressed during the lessons (from a lexical, morophosyntactical, cultural perspectives) through local questions

Recommended grammar textbook:
- Beneventi Lisa, "Grammaire facile du français" (Zanichelli)

For the official course : texts will be available on the moodle platform
Written exam: grammar test prepared by language assistant.
In order to access the oral exam it is mandatory to have passed the grammar test

Oral exam: presentation in 10 minutes on a theme chosen by the students
In particular, students will have to:

Present the main theme and the content of the three articles (source, topics, structure)

Present the main and critical points regarding the chosen topic

Express a personal opinion about the content and-or about specific issues linked with the chosen topic
Interactive face-to-face lessons. Readings will be made during the lessons.
Even if French is the main language, Italian will frequently be used to explain some difficult wors or concepts.
Online texts will be shared online (moodle) before the beginning of the course
Students will have to print it out and take it with them to class (doc version on laptop or tablets).
