“New technologies and labour rights” is the only characterising course in the legal area for the curriculum Innovation and marketing of the master's degree in Management.
The course provides the tools of knowledge, understanding and application of regulatory techniques and disciplines at national, European, international level that impact on the HR management in private and public companies and in every productive sector. Particular attention is paid to the impact of the new digital and algorithmic technologies on personnel organisation and labour regulation, particularly within the international and European companies. The course provides the essential knowledge of workers' rights and freedoms both at individual and collective/trade union level.
The course provides the knowledge and skills to design, assess and implement legal compliance plans and corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategies at the company level, with particular regard to workers' welfare and dignity in a digitalized/algorithmic scenario.
The course enables students to:
1. acquire knowledge of international regulations concerning labour and trade unions relations;
2. acquire and use correct and effective language;
3. apply the acquired knowledge to face and resolve specific problems posed within small and big companies, which are facing the international market and production;
4. be able to assess the own set of rights and obligations as a worker; be able to assess the opportunities offered and the limits imposed by the law in the HR management as a manager and/or employer;
5. design, assess and implement new and effective staff organisation strategies, in light of the regulatory framework; also with reference to CSR strategies

The learning will be verified with an oral exam on the main topics. The assessment can take into account the active participation during the classes (weekly non-mandatory tasks are usually delivered) (1/3 of the final mark) and the teamwork and/or the written paper assigned at the beginning of the course (1/3 of the final mark). Detailed information on the evaluation method will be provided at the beginning of the course, also in light of the number of attending students.
Teaching is organized in lectures and discussions with active and critical participation of the attending students. Non-mandatory assignments are presented and discussed during the classes weekly. Meetings with experts or operators (HR and industrial relations managers in multinational companies, representatives of international organisations and social partners) are organised. A group workshop is organised as well. Materials will be available on the e-learning platform of moodle.unive.it before the classes.
