The course focuses on the main concepts relating to environmental and territorial issues affecting tourism, in order to improve students' expertise in analyzing the complex relation between tourism development and local and regional development.
This didactic module, jointly with the second one , is thereby part of the same course (12 cfu) with common learning outcomes.
The course offers the contents and methodologies to understand the complexity of the relationships between tourism and territorial development, from the environmental, historical-cultural and socio-economic perspective. Attention will be also devoted to the impacts of the climate crisis on tourism activities. An in-depth study on the theme of beach management as a fundamental tourist resource will also be presented.
The instructional goal of the course is that of developing knowledge about:
- the importance of tourism as lever of local and regional change change
- the complexity of the relationship between tourism, environment and territory
- The role that environmental problems and climate change can play in conditioning tourism development

The achievement of specific practical and applied skills will concern:
- assessment of coastal environments an landscapes as tourism and recreation assets.
- the role that environmental resources have in planning tourist development.
- the role that governance has in promoting sustainable tourism practices.

Written test, with 6 open-questions; it lasts 120 minutes. Each answer is worth of 5 points (out of 30)

The exam aims at verifying students' preparation on the topics of the course, as well as their ability to use these concepts to interpret and summarize the main trends which affect the evolution of tourism with reference to the issue of territorial and environmental governance.
Teaching will be in presence with frontal lectures and seminars.
