The course is part of the cultural subjects of the curriculum and aims at providing an introduction at the beginnings of Ottoman-Turkish literature.
1. Knowledge and comprehension
- To understand the social and cultural contexts of Ottoman love poetry
- To learn the rhetorical figures
- To understand the main poetical forms and the most important poets

- To apply the knowledge on the texts
- Capacity to analyze an Ottoman gazel
None. The texts will be provided in Latin transcription, the knowledge of the Arabic alphabet is not necessary.

The student will prepare a beyt (distich) to present at the oral examination, with translation, rhetorical analysis and interpretation.
