The teaching is one of the basic educational activities of the Languages, Civilisations and Language Sciences degree course and enables students to deepen their knowledge and understanding of the basic principles of glottodidactics in relation to foreign languages. The aim of the teaching is to develop knowledge of the use of educational technologies, with particular emphasis on the education of play, and to promote the ability to analyse and design playful language learning environments supported by digital tools. The theaching will enable students to develop skills in the integration of playful methodologies into language learning pathways, through the design and use of different types of educational games, with the support of technologies, in order to promote the acquisition and improvement of language skills.
1. Knowledge and understanding
Know the basic principles of language teaching and the role of educational technologies in their development.
Understand theories of language learning and the contribution of games (analogue and digital) to the learning process.
Know the main types of games and digital tools for language learning.
Understand game and technology strategies for the language integration of learners with special educational needs.

2. Ability to apply knowledge and understanding
Know how to design language learning activities using games and digital technologies.
Select and adapt games (analogue and digital) according to language learning objectives.
Know how to use technological tools to develop language skills through playful approaches.
Know how to design language learning pathways that enhance learners' motivation and participation.

3. Autonomy of judgement
Critically evaluate the role of educational technologies and games in language learning.
Choose game strategies and digital tools according to different pedagogical contexts.
Identify solutions to promote language accessibility and inclusion through play.

4. Communication skills
Communicate concepts and methodologies related to language teaching, educational technology and game-based learning.
Be able to present and justify didactic choices for language teaching with games and digital tools.
Work in teams to design innovative language learning pathways.

5. Learning skills
Keep abreast of new technologies for language teaching and game-based methodologies.
Reflect on and improve your own practice through analysis and experimentation with games and digital tools.
Adapt innovative teaching strategies to different language learning contexts.
For this course there are no prerequisites.

Learning is assessed through a written examination. The examination consists of 22 multiple choice and 3 short answer questions. These questions cover both theoretical knowledge and practical reasoning acquired during the course and apply these skills to case studies.
The assessment criteria for the short answer questions on theory and reasoning will be as follows (a) accuracy of theoretical information; (b) appropriate use of the discipline's own language; (c) validity of reasoning; (d) ability to communicate and explain effectively.
The opportunity to take a test before the end of the course is offered to students who attend classes regularly.

A. Scores in the 18-22 range will be awarded in the presence of:
- sufficient knowledge and applied understanding with reference to the syllabus;
- limited ability to collect and/or interpret data, making independent judgements;
- sufficient communication skills, especially in relation to the use of specific language.
B. marks in the 23-26 range will be awarded in the presence of:
- discrete knowledge and applied understanding with reference to the syllabus;
- discrete ability to collect and/or interpret data, making autonomous judgements;
- fair communication skills, especially in relation to the use of specific language.
C. Scores in the 27-30 range will be awarded in the presence of:
- good or very good knowledge and applied understanding with reference to the syllabus;
- good or very good ability to collect and/or interpret data, making independent judgements;
- fully appropriate communication skills, especially in relation to the use of specific language.
D. Honours will be awarded in the presence of knowledge and ability of applied understanding with reference to the
programme, judgement and communication skills, excellent.
