The Spanish Language and Translation 3 course is part of the third year of a bachelor's degree in linguistic and cultural mediation and is intended as the final component of a professional training course in the field of linguistic mediation and translation. The course consists of a module taught by the lecturer and language exercises aimed at enhancing the contents of the theoretical module, held by CELs. The course aims to provide students with the suitable tools aimed at consolidating linguistic skills and analysing languages for specific purposes from a linguistic and translation perspective, placing particular emphasis on the main contrastive aspects between Spanish and Italian, adopting a communicative approach. The linguistic and communicative competence to be achieved is equal to level B2/C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
At the end of the course students are expected to take both a written and an oral exam aimed at testing if students have achieved the expected outcomes.

2. Ability to apply knowledge and understanding
Being able to recognise and analyse specialised and semi-specialised texts related to Spanish language;
Being able to use the acquired knowledge to translate specialised and semi-specialised texts from and into Spanish;
To be able to apply the appropriate techniques and strategies in order to make suitable translation choices;
To be able to communicate and express oneself in Spanish in communicative and formal situations at B2/C1 level of the CEFR;
Understand and produce specialised and semi-specialised texts in Spanish at B2/C1 CEFR level.

3. Autonomy of judgement
Being able to carry out the analysis of specialised and semi-specialised texts related to Spanish language;
To be able to motivate one's own translation choices in relation to specialised and semi-specialised texts related to Spanish language;
Be able to implement communicative strategies at B2/C1 CEFR level.

4. Communicative skills
Ability to recognise and explain contrastive aspects of languages for specific purposes related to Spanish language;
Ability to use the metalanguage of Linguistics and Translation Studies to describe the phenomena of the Spanish language;
Ability to interact in communicative and formal situations at B2/C1 CEFR level;
Ability to deal with linguistic mediation and translation.

5. Learning ability
Undertake the study of teaching material with an average degree of autonomy;
Ability to self-assess their acquisition of linguistic and translation contents and their competence in Spanish;
Ability to apply the knowledge acquired to undertake the study of the course on translation technologies.


Having passed the written and oral exams of Spanish Language and Translation 1 and 2. Being familiar with the terminology and basics of the syntax of one's mother tongue (knowledge acquired through the general linguistics courses of the Bachelor's Degree Course in Linguistic and Cultural Mediation). To know the fundamentals of linguistic and cultural mediation and translation theory.

The learning assessment is carried out by means of 2 tests:

- a written test with linguistic items and a test of translation between Spanish and Italian in relation to the types of texts dealt with during the course, accompanied by a brief commentary in which the translation choices as well as the techniques and strategies adopted are justified. The duration of the written test will be 90 minutes.
- an oral test on the theoretical contents developed during the course lasting approximately 15 minutes.

The minimum score to be able to pass the written test is set at 18/30. The final score is calculated by averaging the score achieved in the written and the evaluation of the oral test, which allows up to 2 points less than the written test or 3 additional points.

SUFFICIENT
18 - Very uncertain knowledge of content, which is necessarily to be consolidated, and which is confusedly understood and reworked. Ability to reflect and expound.
19 - Confused knowledge of content, which needs to be consolidated, and which is understood and reworked in a confused manner. Sufficient reflection and exposition skills.
20 - Sufficient content knowledge, which still needs to be partially consolidated, and which is understood and reworked in a manner that is not always entirely adequate. Sufficient reflection and exposition skills.

The lectures, held entirely in Spanish, will be mainly seminar-based, with the aid of power points for the presentation of issues related to languages for specific purposes and their translation. Student participation and involvement will be encouraged through practical tests and translation projects aimed at simulating the professional practice of translation. Students will present their translation proposals in the classroom, which will then be discussed in plenary.
Lessons will be in Spanish and students must attend the 75% of the course.

This subject deals with topics related to the macro-area "Human capital, health, education" and contributes to the achievement of one or more goals of U. N. Agenda for Sustainable Development
