The laboratory is complementary to the CM0602 "Advanced Electronics" course and provides students with an introduction to the use of the LTSpice software for the simulation of electronic circuits that are explained during during the course.
At the end of the laboratory students will have acquired a basic understanding of the use of LTSpice software for the simulation of electronic circuits including active and passive elements and operational amplifiers.
The student will be able to insert the schematic of a circuit and interpret its associated netlist. The student will be able to perform DC, transient and AC simulations. He must also be able to plot and interpret the results effectively.
None. The basic functionalities of the simulator will be explained during the laboratory. The analyzed circuits will be studied during the course.
The laboratory integrates the CM0602 "Advanced Electronics" course and provides students with an introduction to the use of the LTSpice software for the simulation of electronic circuits that are explained during during the course. The student will learn how to create a schematic of the circuit and generate the associate netlist. Circuits will include passive components, transistors and operational amplifiers. The main simulation tools will be explained. Those include DC, AC and transient simulations. The student will learn how to set the main simulation parameters.
The necessary material will be provided by the teacher in the form of slides or lecture notes. Examples of possible simulations are then indicated in the texts already suggested for the course.
The learning of the use of the simulator and the results of the simulations of different circuit structures will be discussed with the teacher during the laboratory hours. There is no specific individual exam or test.
During the laboratory hours the students will simulate specific electronic architectures. The results of the simulations will have to be compared with an analytical solution previously obtained by the students. In this way the students will be able to appreciate the limits of the used models.
