The course presents the competitive markets model, some of its applications and failures.
Students are expected to understand, apply and evaluate baseline microeconomic models of competitive markets and markets where a single or few producers are present.
The basic knowledge of models of consumption and production decision is required.
It is advisable to have a course in Mathematics. In particular, students must be able to draw analytic functions in R^2 and R^3, to solve systems of linear equations, to apply basic calculus tools.

- Violations of the perfect competition model assumptions: monopoly and oligopoly
