The course aims at providing an overview of the main banking and financial services and an illustration of the powers and tasks of the relevant Supervisory Authorities.
Focus will be placed on customer protection tools, including transparency policies and alternative dispute resolution measures.
Under a cooperation agreement between the Economics Department of Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and Bank of Italy to develop projects of financial education, some lectures will be given by the teacher together with Bank of Italy’s functionaries. These functionaries will provide some useful insights into supervisory and customer protection activities of Bank of Italy.
Knowledge and mastery of the main protection tools provided for by the banking and financial system.
There are no prerequisites.
1. Main banking and financial services.
2. Financial products and potential risks for investors and savers.
3. An overview of banking and financial supervisory activities.
4. The Central Credit Register of Bank of Italy.
5. Customer protection: transparency of banking and financial services and fairness in relations between intermediaries and customers.
6. The Banking and Financial Arbitrator (ABF) and the Arbitrator for Financial Disputes (ACF).
7. Notes on the regulation of consumer over-indebtedness.
