The module introduces core topics and historiographical debates related to the 19th and 20th centuries history .
The attendance, the active participation in the course and individual study will allow students:
-to acquire the knowledge of the general lines and of some major themes of modern history;
-to identify and analyze primary sources.
Good knowledge of Italian.
The course will provide general outlines of the history of the long 19th century and relative historiographical debates .
Mandatory reading:
A.M. Banti, L’età contemporanea. Dalle rivoluzioni settecentesche all’imperialismo, Roma-Bari, Laterza, 2009.

Students who cannot attend the module will add: C. Pavone, Prima lezione di storia contemporanea (Roma-Bari, Laterza)
