The course is part of the three-year degree course in Language, Culture and Society of Asia and Mediterranean Africa.

Given that the aim of the course is to train professionals in the field of:

a) intercultural communication and to enter professionally in various sectors, public and private, such as cultural institutions and museums, national and community public institutions, international organizations;

b) drafting and translating texts with cultural relevance and linguistic assistance activities for companies and other organizations.

c) organization and promotion of cultural and artistic events (exhibitions, reviews, festivals, etc.) and work for companies and organizations interested in the markets of Asia and Mediterranean Africa.

Through teaching, the student will be provided with the tools to understand:

1. The principles of economics
2. What is a company
3. What are the methods and forms of management of a company
4. How is it organized and how does it interact with the market
The objectives of the course are:

1. Provide the basic concepts of economics
2. Illustrate the forms of management of a company

In particular, the study of the management aspects referred to in the second point will be preceded and accompanied by that of the founding principles of business economics.

Attendance and active participation in the training activity proposed by the course, divided into frontal lessons, accompanied by individual study, will allow students to:

1 Knowledge and understanding

1.1. The fundamental concepts and principles underlying economics and business economics, in order to understand what a company is and how it works
1.2. Reporting (analytical, environmental and social), in order to create a balance sheet of the entrepreneurial activities carried out, under this triple profile
1.3. Identify the determinants of organizational design
1.4. Understand organizational strategies and organizational models applied in companies
1.5. Acquire the notion of market, operations and marketing strategies in competitive environments

2 Ability to apply knowledge and understanding

2.1 Know the fundamentals of the economic disciplines covered (economics, environmental economics, management economics, organizational design, marketing strategies) and applied to the company, to understand its management methods
2.2. Identify the main characteristics that make a business activity sustainable

3 Judgment skills

3.1. Know what an economic system is and how the Company fits into it
3.2. Know how to identify the different methods of governing a company
3.3. Know how to structure business activities in the various units of which it is composed
3.4. Know how to understand how a company fits into the market where it operates
There are no prerequisites required for this course/teaching.

The final exam is in written form, with an intermediate test, also in written form.

Intermediate test

Date: will be communicated in class and on the course's Moodle space;
Structure: 2 open-ended questions and 5 multiple-choice questions, with three possible options (only 1 option can be true, the other 2 are false);
Duration: 1 hour;
Format: it is in written form;
Syllabus: it will cover the topics addressed prior to the test.

Final exam, intermediate test passed (grade >=18)

Date: will be communicated in class and on the course's Moodle space;
Structure: 1 open-ended question and 2 multiple-choice questions, with three possible options (only 1 option can be true, the other 2 are false);
Duration: 1 hour;
Format: it is in written form;
Syllabus: it will cover the topics addressed after the intermediate test.
Grade: is the average of the grade from the intermediate test and the final exam.

Final exam, intermediate test not passed (grade <18) or not taken

Date: will be communicated in class and on the course's Moodle space;
Structure: 3 open-ended questions and 7 multiple-choice questions, with three possible options (only 1 option can be true, the other 2 are false).
Duration: 1 hour;
Format: it is in written form;
Syllabus: it will cover the entire program.
Grade: is determined exclusively by the grade of the final written exam.

The evaluation will be expressed on a 30-point scale.

The passing grade is 18/30.
The maximum grade is 30/30, with the possible awarding of honors (lode).
This course will involve classroom lessons.
