The Vernacular Culture in the Romance Middle Ages (12th-14th c.): An Introduction. 2. Courtesy and Its double in short stories.
Romance philology is part of the characterizing didactic activities.
Romance Philology 2 develops the reflection begun in Romance Philology 1, analyzing the modeling of Fin'amor by its anti-model: in a series of of short stories that describe 'non-courteous' values and behaviors supporting the plot in an aristocratic context, according to the semiotic opposition' high vs low '.
Development and deepening of:
(a) linguistic skills in ancient Romance languages (Italian, French);
(b) the analysis and knowledge of the semiotic models (thematic-ideological, formal) underlying the medieval literary textuality.
Skills acquired in the Romance Philology exercises and in the Romance Philology 1 lessons .
Commented reading of texts in Old Occitan, Old French and Old Italian (in their original form, not in translation).
The bibliography (original texts and scientific essays) will be made available in electronic format on the Moodle platform of the course.
The exam includes the analysis and discussion of the texts and topics presented in class and in the bibliography.
The exam is oral; having passed the Romance Philology 1 exam is the precondition for being admitted to take the exam.

Old French / Occitan / Italian texts will be presented, read and commented according to the traditional ways of text interpretation.
1. Romance Philology 2 is the second part of the Romance Philology course for those who are required to 12 ECTS of this discipline.
2. Personalized programs are provided for students who cannot attend classes, which will be administered after a personal meeting during student reception hours.
3. During the year, there will be a seminar open to students on the three-year course, students on the specialisation course and anyone else interested in the subject: 'Metamorphosis in popular literature: from Ovid to fairy tales'. The seminar will be divided into two modules, each lasting one semester; active participation (translation exercises, seminar lectures) in each module will entitle the student to 3 CFUs of activity equivalent to an internship. Information on dates and times will be provided at the beginning of the 2025-2026 courses.
