Contribution of the course to the overall degree programme goals
The course focuses on providing students with the basics of translation, such as definitions of translation, types and modes of translation, translation errors and problems, methods, translator competence, translation strategies and techniques. The main purpose is to make the student aware of the factors that condition the translator's decisions. At the end of the course, the notion of specialized translation will be introduced as a preparation topic for module 2.

Assessment methods
Participation/collaboration during classes can be evaluated positively even if it does not represent a specific percentage of the final grade.
The verification of learning related to the Spanish Language and Translation 2 course (12 CFUs) is done through three tests:
1. a written test for Spanish Language and Translation 2 mod. 1 (duration: 90 minutes);
2. a written test for Spanish Language and Translation 2 mod. 2 (duration: 90 minutes);
The minimum score to be able to pass the written tests of module 1 and module 2 is set at 9/15. Once a passing grade has been obtained by the student, the lecturer in charge of the teaching will, during the official exam sessions, calculate the final average and verbalize the overall grade for Spanish Language and Translation 2. The verbalization of the 12 CFUs of the Spanish language course will take place only after completing the entire process consisting of the two parts. Since this is a one-year course, passing one of the partial tests does not entitle students to verbalize the credits corresponding to that test (e.g., 6 CFUs for Module 1).
Students will have the opportunity to take the partial tests of modules 1 and 2 either in the official examination sessions or at the end of the lectures of the relevant modules in the form of a pre-application or midterm test (pre-appeal). The dates of the midterm examinations will be communicated to students by the lecturer. Students intending to sit for the pre-appeal of module 1 must also sit for the pre-appeal of module 2; therefore, it is not possible to take only the pre-appeal of one module. The marks obtained in the partial tests (including pre-appeals) will be valid for the relevant academic year.
