The aim of this module is to equip students with a solid theoretical and technical grounding in contemporary literary writing, focusing particularly on narrative, poetry, and criticism.

The course aims to develop textual analysis and composition skills through writing and reading exercises. Specifically, it seeks to:

- Cultivate practical creative writing skills by experimenting with diverse genres and techniques.
- Identify the fluid or recurring characteristics of contemporary literary genres.
- Acquire a foundational understanding of the contemporary Italian and international literary landscape.
- Develop an individual writing project.

Students will engage in practical activities focused on the creation of poetic, narrative, and critical texts. This work will serve as the basis for classroom discussions aimed at refining their analytical skills regarding their own writing.
No prerequisites are required, although a good knowledge of the Italian language is recommended.
The course incorporates theoretical frameworks and practical exercises structured around three main areas:

1. Poetic Writing: An overview and in-depth analysis of the principal trends in contemporary poetry, with attention to the evolution of language and forms.
2. Narrative Writing: An exploration of the forms of the novel and the short story, with a particular focus on stylistic and diegetic techniques.
3. Critical Writing (Philosophy and Art Criticism): An introduction to writing as a tool for reflection and inquiry, with specific attention to the reading and interpretation of contemporary visual artworks.

Every theorical explanation will be followed by an exercise of individual writing.
Jacques Roubaud, Qualche cosa nero (Ibis, 2022)
Laura Pugno, In territorio selvaggio (Nottetempo, 2018)

Additional suggestions of readings will be provided during the lessons, based on the single student interests.
Final assessment will be based on the presentation and oral discussion of a writing project conceived in response to the course content.
