Expected learning outcomes
1. Knowledge and understanding: knowledge of the formation of Mozambican and Brazilian literature; knowledge of the interdisciplinary, socio-cultural and historical-political dynamics that affect the works studied; mastery of scientific terminology for the critical analysis of literary texts.
2. Applied knowledge and understanding: highlight the (post)colonial circumstances of Mozambican and Brazilian society; read, analyze and interpret works of Portuguese-language literature, recognizing oral elements.
3. Autonomy of judgment: develop the ability to acquire and apply adequate critical tools in the analysis of the texts indicated, on a thematic and stylistic-formal level also relating them to the bond of orality.
4. Communication skills: understand the exposition of an academic speech; express concepts with clarity and terminological precision.
5. Ability to learn to recognize the typology of a text and formulate hypotheses for analysis; the facts and materials examined and the ideas and context of which they are an expression

Contents
This course is dedicated to understanding the complex scenario of oral traditions in Mozambique and Brazil through the analysis of selected literary texts. The following topics will be addressed:
1. The nature of oral literature in Africa and Brazil: language, structure, and functions
2. Perceptions of oral literature: interdisciplinarity as a factor of consolidation
3. Training in different disciplines
4. Genealogy: epistemological perspectives
5. Orality and writing: intercessions and intertextuality

Assessment methods
The final written exam has 6 questions (5pt each question) and must be manuscript, done between 3 or 4 pages (about half page for each question). It must be a personal comment that shows how to intertwine the various points of the study, in order to verify the depth of the argument developed and its connection with the entire content of the course (debate, bibliography and lessons).
Evaluation Criteria:
The criterion follows the idea of clarity, conceptual definition, argumentation, synthesis and originality.
The evaluation will take into consideration the ability to critically use specific literature (30%), use concepts appropriately (15%), arrange data correctly (15%), the ability to analyze the literary text (30%) and originality (10%)

- Knowledge of theoretical topics (up to 12 points)
- Ability to critically analyze theoretical topics (up to 5 points)
- Clarity and confidence in oral presentation (up to 3 points)
- Mastery of specialized terminology and appropriate use of the language (up to 5 points)
- Ability to discuss in an autonomous and well-structured way (up to 5 points)
The maximum score achievable is 30/30. Honors may be awarded in the case of excellent performance in all the items considered.
