The cours is part of courses complementary of the Degree Scienze del Linguaggio. In harmony with the objectives and learning areas of the course of study, the teaching allows students to develop advanced skills in literature and culture (history of theater) in the Spanish language and in research methodology in particular of theater studies.
1. Knowledge and understanding
knowledge and under standing in spanish Language about the Miguel de Cervantes's plays in their context of spanish theatre of the 16th Century.

Capacity to apply independently and critically the analytical tools to the plays and the historical documents.

Capacity to recognize a typology of the play and capacity to inserting in their cultural context.

Ability to engage in oral interaction on specialized topics (Cervantes's theatre and its dramatic context).

Ability to carry out the analysis of historical and theatrical philology documentation.
Ability to critically and interpretatively contextualize documents within the Hispanic cultures of the 16th century.
Ability to identify key aspects of Miguel de Cervantes's plays in their context of spanish theatre of the 16th Century.
Advanced knowledge of the spanish language (B2)
1. The theatre of Miguel de Cervantes in its Context: the consolidation of the professional theatre, italians actors' companies, actors- playwrights and poets- playwrights.
2. The Cervantes' Theatre: manuscripts and printed editions.
3. Philological problems of theatrical manuscripts.
4. The language and theatricality of Cervantes.

Oral Exam (20 minutes):
3 open-ended questions: One selected by the student; One chosen by the Professor; One focused on one of the two Cervantes comedies from the syllabus.

The questions assess the student's historical-literary knowledge, understanding of texts and their historical contexts, and mastery of critical and analytical tools. Additionally, they evaluate the student's ability to apply knowledge to the discussion of covered topics, demonstrate independent judgment in their analysis, and express their ideas clearly and concisely.

18–24: The student demonstrates a sufficient understanding of the course content.
25–28: The student demonstrates a good understanding of the subject matter along with appropriate critical thinking and analytical skills.
29–30: The student demonstrates an excellent grasp of the subject matter, presents their ideas with clarity and confidence, and shows outstanding critical and analytical skills.
The course consists of theoretical and practical lessons (analysis of theatrical texts). During the lessons, the students have to participate actively preparing the texts analysis.
