The course covers basic teaching and is primarily aimed at giving the knowledge of public decision-making processes. Against this backdrop, it
develops the logic, methodology and tools of:
- strategic planning, tactical planning and operational control;
- budgeting, managerial control and reporting;
- performance systems.
A special focus is devoted to understanding the linkages between performance systems, financial programming and
social accounting.
At the end of the course, students will have acquired the knowledge needed to understand the characteristics of the context in which public administrations operate, the main aspects of public management, the evolutionary and innovative change models, and the general approach of the public accounting system.
No previous exams mandatory. Anyway we suggest a general knowledge on principles of business administration
Theories on public decision-making and their evolution.
Planning and control systems: strategic planning, management control and operational control.
Theories on the evolution of the Public sector: New Public Management, New Public Governance, Public Value Management
Co-production of Public services

Written examen based on at least 3 open-ended questions and 4 multiple-choice questions.
Those who participate in the discussion groups and achieve a positive assessment in the mid-term examinations will be able to contribute their mark to the formation of 40% of the final grade, and will only take the final examination in the fundamental theory part for the remaining part.

Positive marks range from 18 to 30 .
The course will be held in blended mode using the first week in presence and the following weeks alternating between synchronous and asynchronous mode
The meetings in synchronous mode will be devoted to specific topics that will be worked on in groups by the students and then discussed by individual groups.
