The course intends to supply the students with the tools to understand how the tourism economy actually functions. With the help of concrete cases, both Italian and foreign, the principles of tourism economics will be illustrated with the aim to show how tourism resources can be used best. The first module will deal with the demand side of the tourism market; the second with the supply side and the impact of tourism on local and national economies.
Acquire basic knowledge of the economic dimension of the tourism phenomenon and of tools for a correct analysis of the tourism economy, as well as some concrete policy instruments that help tourism development become more sustainable.
The exam of the course of Economics.
The complete programme of first module of the 12 CFU (60 hours) course is the following:

1. definitions;
2. tourism consumptions;
3. neoclassical consumtion and tourism;
4. forecasting tourism demand;
5. managing demand; some basic principles.
