The Chinese language module 1.1 is one of the main courses of the Master's degree course in Languages, Economics and Institutions of Asia and Mediterranean Africa (LAMAC curriculum) and aims to guide students to increase their linguistic skills. translation studies. In particular, the course aims to strengthen and consolidate students' ability to translate economic, commercial and legal texts into Italian from Chinese, and vice versa, as well as to develop methodological tools for linguistic analysis and interlingual comparison. The goal is to make it possible for them to apply their language skills and abilities in reading and processing texts that require knowledge of sectoral languages ​​relating to the fields of economics and (commercial) law.
Conversation courses will in turn be aimed at making students acquire the ability to discuss topics related to the world of economics.
Achieve a level of language proficiency equivalent to level B2+ of the CEFR (Common European framework of reference for language proficiency). In particular:
1. Knowledge and understanding
• Knowing the key sentences necessary to interact in communication contexts that require knowledge of vocabulary and expressions related to the fields of economy and management.
• Having a solid knowledge of the grammatical system of modern Chinese.
• Knowing the vocabulary and expressions related to the fields of economy and management.
2. Ability to apply knowledge and understanding
• Being able to correctly use the key sentences necessary to interact in communication contexts that require knowledge of the vocabulary and expressions related to the fields of economy and management.
• Being able to understand written texts on topics related to economy and management.
• Being able to use in writing vocabulary and expressions related to the fields of economy and management.
• Being able to translate correctly into Chinese sentences including complex grammatical structures.
3. Judgment skills
• Being able to assess the level of one’s language knowledge, skills and abilities.
4. Communication skills
• Being able to communicate the specificities of linguistic and textual analysis using appropriate terminology.
5. Learning skills
• Knowing how to relate the different contexts of study and apply your knowledge and skills for personal and professional growth.
• Having a very good theoretical and practical knowledge of the Italian language: students must be able to express themselves correctly both in writing and in oral form, and master the tools of grammatical analysis and logical analysis.
• Having a Chinese language proficiency equivalent to level B1+ of the CEFR (Common European framework of reference for language proficiency).
The course focuses on specialized language in the legal, commercial, and business fields. It develops the ability to understand and translate specialized Chinese texts. In these areas, it also provides oral language skills and strengthens the ability to translate into Chinese sentences containing complex grammatical structures. The structure of the course is as follows:
• Reading, translation into Italian, and grammatical and translation commentary of Chinese texts on legal and commercial topics: 30 hours of theory and practice;
• Training in linguistic interaction in economic and business communication contexts: 60 hours of Practical Sessions A (conversation);
• Training in translating into Chinese sentences containing complex grammatical structures: 60 hours of Practical Sessions B (translation);
• Conversation tutoring: Practical Sessions C;
• Translation tutoring: Practical Sessions D;
• Remedial and reinforcement sessions for translation skills in Chinese (E).

The exam consists of three tests, covering topics in economics, business and law covered in lectures and exercises:
- Conversation in Chinese
- Translation written in Italian from Chinese (2 hours)
- Translation written in Chinese from Italian (2 hours)

A facsimile of the translation test is available on the website https://moodle.unive.it/ in the section “[LM6370] LINGUA CINESE AVANZATA PER LA GESTIONE AZIENDALE 2 MOD. 1 - prof.ssa C. Sparvoli”. The use of dictionaries, even electronic ones, is allowed only during the test of reading comprehension and translation of a Chinese test. To pass the exam it is necessary to obtain a minimum score of 18/30 in each of the three tests: the final mark is the average of the scores of each of the three tests.

The evaluation criteria for written exams are as follows:
- Text comprehension – 50%
- Textual integrity – 25%
- Lexical accuracy – 15%
- Stylistic effectiveness – 10%
The teaching is organized in:
a) lectures (dual or online);
b) practical exercises aimed at building and consolidating the knowledge, skills and competences that the course aims for;
c) tutoring aimed at discussing and deepening the specific language problems that emerged during the course and related exercises.
