Contribution of the course to the overall degree programme goals
By the end of the course, students will be able to read, analyze, and interpret complex texts, and to interact effectively in a range of communicative contexts, both formal and informal. The course includes an in-depth study of advanced grammatical structures, in close coordination with the language practice sessions led by the Collaborators and Language Experts (CEL).
Expected learning outcomes
By the end of the course, students will have developed advanced linguistic competencies that will enable them to successfully undertake the final module of Korean language within their Master’s programme.
Specifically, the acquired competencies will include:
- Knowledge and Understanding
- Knowledge of key expressions necessary to interact in communicative contexts requiring the use of sector-specific language in the field of the humanities.
- Solid command of the complex grammatical system of modern Korean.
- Acquisition of an advanced vocabulary, including terminology typical of specialized language used in humanistic disciplines.
Applying Knowledge and Understanding
- Ability to correctly and appropriately employ key expressions for complex communicative interactions in academic and professional settings.
- Independent comprehension of texts dealing with humanities-related topics.
- Production of written texts in Korean using advanced vocabulary, including technical terms from humanistic domains.
- Ability to decode and understand complex grammatical structures within authentic texts.
Judgement Skills
- Ability to critically assess one's own linguistic and metalinguistic competence, identifying strengths and areas for improvement.
Communication Skills
- Ability to effectively convey the specific features of linguistic and textual analysis using appropriate academic and technical terminology.
Learning Skills
- Capacity to integrate knowledge from various study contexts and to apply it for personal, academic, and professional growth.
- Ability to approach original texts in Korean with sufficient confidence and autonomy.
Expected Proficiency Level
In line with the TOPIK proficiency scale, students are expected to enter the course at an initial level 5 and to reach a solid level 5+/6 by the end. According to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), their competence will progress from an initial C1 to an early-stage C2 level.

Assessment methods
The final examination is composed of two separate components: a written test and an oral test.
1. Written Test
- The written test lasts 90 minutes and assesses grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and written production, based on the activities covered in Korean Language 1 Mod. 2.
- The test includes both multiple-choice questions and open-ended questions drawn from the course syllabus.
- The total score for the written component is 30 points, calculated as the average of two sections: grammar (30 points) and language practice (30 points).
2. Oral Test
- Only students who pass the written test are admitted to the oral test.
- The oral exam consists of an individual interview with the instructors and focuses on the course content.

Grading scale
- 18–22: awarded in the presence of sufficient knowledge of the course content and basic applied skills;
- 23–26: awarded in the presence of fair knowledge and a good level of comprehension and application of the topics covered;
- 27–30: awarded in the presence of good or excellent knowledge, along with solid analytical, interpretative, and productive abilities;
- 30 with honors: awarded in the presence of outstanding and in-depth knowledge of the course material, advanced language proficiency, and high-level critical and applied skills.

La votazione ottenuta nella Parte I (Modulo 1) resta valida fino al superamento della Parte II (Modulo 2), che dovrà avvenire entro e non oltre il primo appello della sessione di gennaio dell’anno accademico successivo.
In caso di mancato superamento della Parte II entro tale scadenza, lo studente sarà tenuto a ripetere l’esame relativo alla Parte I (Modulo 1), a partire dal secondo appello della medesima sessione di gennaio.
