The course is mandatory for students who have not passed the "Verification Test - Latin" as it offers the opportunity to begin a learning path of the Latin language starting from the phonetic system up to the main syntactic structures. It is highly recommended for students enrolled by 2024/2025 or History students who have not yet passed the Laboratory Test 1.
Acquire basic linguistic knowledge to be able to read, translate, understand (and therefore analyze) Latin texts of low or medium complexity.
- KNOW the basic morphological structures and the main syntactic constructions of the Latin language, which allow a first approach to the frequentation of Latin texts;
- UNDERSTAND Latin texts and the strategies that allow to translate an ancient text into a modern language;
- ACQUIRE a basic Latin vocabulary.
Conscious use of the Italian language, in particular the ability to produce logical and period analysis.
1. Phonetic system and main rules of the Latin accent
2. Declensions (first, second, third, fourth, fifth)
3. Adjectives (first and second class) and degrees of the adjective
4. Adverbs
5. Pronouns
6. Verbs: complete morphological table for each conjugation (thematic verbs). Active and passive conjugation. Main anomalous verbs
7. Essential syntax of cases
8. Consecutio temporum (indicative and subjunctive)
9. Essential syntax of the period (temporal and causal propositions with indicative; cum + subjunctive; ablative absolute; final with ut and subjunctive; consecutive with ut and subjunctive; relative clauses with indicative; infinitives)

Written test, similar in structure and content to the "Verification Test - Latin".
The basic skills of the Latin language tested through the “Verification Test - Latin” and recovered through the OFA recovery course - Latin language concern: phonetics and phonology (2 questions), morphology (nouns, verbs, adjectives, pronouns: 5 questions), morphosyntax (5 questions), vocabulary (5 questions), text comprehension/translation (3 questions).

There is no grading of grades, but only passing and failing the test.
The course is designed to be highly interactive, with frontal lesson modules integrated with exercises.
