The course is chosen from number of courses present in a cluster. The Advanced Tourism Economics course aims to provide students with theoretical concepts, models and tools useful for understanding the economic nature of tourism of which the theoretical framework will be defined, its most recent extensions in scientific literature and in particular its implications in terms of analysis of the tourist offer and the role that the consumer assumes in this context. The course will allow the student to acquire further elements for the construction of integration strategies between tourist accommodation companies with complementary services, such as those in the cultural and environmental fields, the promotion-marketing of new tourist products and the use of ICT for development of the destination's tourism systems. Every year a very relevant and hot topic will be chosen which will be explored by the class through recent texts in Italian and English, and a final group work.

• To know and represent the strategic and systemic relations of a tourist destination through theoretical models
• Understanding new approaches and visions useful for deciphering the dynamics of tourism supply and consumption
• Understand the reasons behind strategies for integrating the tourist offer and the intersectoral development of a tourist destination
2. Apply the knowledge and understanding acquired
• Knowing how to recognize and analyze the relationships between the actors of the tourism systems that co-participate in tourism supply and consumption
• Knowing how to identify the economic characteristics and development potential of tourism systems
• Knowing how to use the tools and strategies useful for the management of tourism products and services, including in relation to globalization processes
• Knowing how to identify lines of intervention to support the integration of tourism
3. Sound judgment
• To associate economic theories with certain tourism development strategies
• Being able to critically evaluate the aptitude of a destination in the management of its tourism products and services in order to pursue a competitive, intercultural and sustainable tourism
development.
A knowledge of the principles of Tourism Economics is advisable.

Attending students: group work regarding a current issue in tourism chosen at the beginning of the course

Non-attending students:
Since the course is elective and foresees intensive groupwork, an exam for non attending students is not foreseen.

The instructor is responsible for ensuring the authenticity and originality of all examinations and coursework. In cases of suspected academic misconduct, an additional on-site assessment may be required during the exams, which may differ from the standard format.

Marks from 1 to 30 with the possibility of receiving a ''lode''.
The course is organized as follows:
a) theoretical lectures
b) discussion of case studies in the form of a working group
c) discussion of papers presented during lectures
The teaching materials will be available on the Moodle platform, published with the respective topics of the class and accompanied by an introduction that will helps students to understanding the course syllabus.
