KOREAN LANGUAGE 2

The course 'Korean Language 2' is part of the core teachings of the Korea curriculum within the Master's Degree program in 'Languages and Cultures of Asia and Mediterranean Africa.' It is also the final course in the language learning component required by the 3+2 integrated teaching program.
The course aims to provide students with an in-depth study of the advanced grammatical structures of Korean, in coordination with the linguistic exercises held in parallel by the collaborators and linguistic experts (CEL).

To complete Korean language training at an advanced level (CEFR Level C1+/C2) in all linguistic skills (comprehension and production of written and spoken texts) and with a related deepening of the lexical resources, enabling participants to make direct use of primary and secondary sources in the Korean language.

• Adjust linguistic nuance based on different cultural contexts of Korean usage.
• Express clear and logical opinions, both orally and in writing, on academic, social, and cultural topics.

• Collect and process information on interdisciplinary topics in Korean and develop it into academic writing or presentations.
• Actively apply and adapt acquired vocabulary, grammar, and expressions to real-life communicative situations.
• Confidently and effectively use online learning platforms and digital tools to support independent learning.

The exam consists of a written and oral test.

1) Written test:
- 90 minutes for grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and writing (part of Korean Language Exercises 2).
- Multiple-choice questions and open-ended questions based on the course program.
- The total score is 30 points (the average between 30 points for grammar and 30 points for exercises.

2) Oral test:
- Those who have passed the written test can take the oral test.
- The oral test is an interview with the professors about the course content.

Regarding the grading scale, scores will be assigned according to the following criteria:
A. Scores in the 18–22 range will be awarded in the presence of a sufficient knowledge of Modern Korean grammar and a sufficient ability to analyze the given texts from a grammatical perspective and render them in translation.
B. Scores in the 23–26 range will be awarded in the presence of a fair knowledge of Modern Korean grammar and a fair ability to analyze the given texts from a grammatical perspective and render them in translation.
C. Scores in the 27–30 range will be awarded in the presence of a good or excellent knowledge of Modern Korean grammar and a good or excellent ability to analyze the given texts from a grammatical perspective and render them in translation.
D. Honors will be awarded in the presence of an outstanding knowledge of Modern Korean grammar and an outstanding ability to analyze the given texts from a grammatical perspective and render them in translation.
