The course is harmoniously part of the course of study, dealing with a subject - labor law - strictly connected with the work of people, its social dimension, individual and collective problems related to the organization of work (think of the problems of the labor market, income and forms of "poor" / precarious work, to gender discrimination - but not only gender - related to the world of work and business, to the work of immigrants, to bullying, to disability and to work, to legal instruments to overcome social inequalities related to work, the promotion of people's abilities, etc.).
The learning outcomes essentially concern the ability to interpret social phenomena related to work in the light of the reference legal-institutional framework. In particular, learning the legal rules of the labor market and the organization of work must allow the acquisition of a broader awareness of the legal and regulatory issues of work, in order to design policies, manage concrete situations of social need, understand correctness. or less of the management of personnel in the company and prepare the necessary measures, also in collaboration with the institutions responsible for compliance with the law in the management of labor relations (territorial labor Inspectorate, Inps, Inail, Judges, NGOs, etc.) .
There aren't conditions to attende the course
A first part of the course is dedicated to the study of the individual dimension of employment relationships with particular reference to the demands of balancing the interests of workers and the company, in the public as well as in the private sector. The in-depth study necessarily requires a contextualization of labor law in the context of global society and, consequently, the factors that impact on the dynamics of work in the national and supranational context will be analyzed (think of the economic crisis, the pandemic crisis, the digitization and climate change in the world of work) to then investigate the employment relationship (sources; rights, duties and powers of the parties; types of contracts; scope of application between subordination and new areas of protection represented by self-employment and collaborations; working conditions, work-life balance). An in-depth study is envisaged on the legal policy trends aimed at modernizing the labor law, taking into account the demands coming from the market (flexibility, universalism of safeguards, economic sustainability, green economy, etc.) and with particular reference to the business world (organizational well-being, sustainable models business, worker loyalty, employer branding, etc.).
A second part of the course is dedicated to the deepening of the collective dimension of employment relationships with particular reference to the freedom of association and collective organization, the rights of collective bargaining and strike, the impact that these rights have on the freedom of economic initiative of the employer. A specific focus will be dedicated to the systematization of the dynamics and actors that contribute to defining the Italian system of industrial relations, with a look also on the experiences of other European countries.
