The course is designed to further develop the linguistic skills of students who already have a basic knowledge of the Thai language. The emphasis is on communicative interaction, understanding authentic texts and oral and written production in realistic and complex contexts. Grammatical structures, idiomatic expressions and linguistic registers used in various areas of daily and professional life will be explored.
The course is designed to further develop the language skills of students who already have a basic knowledge of the Thai language. The emphasis is on communicative interaction, understanding authentic texts, and speaking and writing in realistic and complex contexts. Grammatical structures, idiomatic expressions and linguistic registers used in various areas of daily and professional life will be explored.
This course is suitable for students who already have a basic knowledge of Thai language at A-level and those who are interested in Thai language, culture and society to further their future career.
Main Contents:

1. Advanced Grammar Review: Complex Structures, Logical Connectors, Idioms
2. Speaking: Discussions, Opinions, Presentations
3. Listening Comprehension: Authentic Audio, News, Interviews
4. Reading Authentic Texts: Newspaper Articles, Short Stories, Formal/Informal Dialogues
5. Writing: Formal Letters, Short Essays, Summaries
6. Thai Culture: Social Norms, Cultural Values, Honorific Language, Thai trend
The exam will involve one single test with the first appeal in the May-June exam session, the second appeal in August-September and the third appeal in January-February of the following year. The oral exam duration is 10-15 minutes and it could be done immediately after the written exam (it will be necessary to take both tests on the same day). The final grade will be determined by the average of the results achieved in the written and oral exams

Grades will be assigned according to the following criteria:

A. Grades in the 18-22 range will be awarded in the presence of: Sufficient knowledge and applied comprehension of the program;
B. Grades in the 23-26 range will be awarded in the presence of: Fair knowledge and applied comprehension of the program;
C. grades in the 27-30 range will be awarded in the presence of: Good or excellent knowledge and applied comprehension of the program;
D. Honors will be awarded in the presence of extraordinary knowledge and applied comprehension of the program.
