Contribution of the course to the overall degree programme goals
The course aims to explain the main tools for analysing the financial statements in order to understand the business performance and express a judgement about the financial and economic status of the entity. To this purpose the course deals with the key features of the financial statements according to the Italian civil law and IAS/IFRS, the main approaches to classify the income statement and the statement of financial position, the ratios analysis and the principles for preparing the cash flow statement.
Expected learning outcomes
To this end, will be provided a set of skills related to understand the financial statement document, to prevent risks and unfavorable events and suggest solutions to the management.

Binding prerequisite: passing the "Business Administration exam (12 cfu)".

The economic-financial model and the financial statements.
Objective and contents of the financial statements.
The legal form of the financial statement according to the Italian civil law.
The financial statements presentation according to IAS/IFRS.
Reformulation of the statement of financial position.
Reformulation of the income statement.
The cash flow statement and cash flow analysis.
The ratios analysis.

Assessment methods
The exam includes a series of open questions, variously articulated, with an exercise on financial flows, cash flow statement and/or ratios, with an indication of the scores for each question.
The grade will be assigned according to the following methods:
A. scores in the 18-22 range will be assigned in the presence of:
- sufficient knowledge and ability to apply understanding in reference to the course program;
- limited ability to apply knowledge by formulating independent judgments;
- sufficient communication skills, especially in relation to the use of specific language that pertains to the course program;
B. scores in the 23-26 range will be assigned in the presence of:
- fair knowledge and ability to apply understanding in reference to the course program;
- fair ability to apply knowledge by formulating independent judgments;
- fair communication skills, especially in relation to the use of specific language that pertains to the course program;
C. scores in the 27-30 range will be assigned in the presence of:
- good or very good knowledge and ability to apply understanding in reference to the course program;
- good or very good ability to apply knowledge by formulating independent judgments;
- fully appropriate communication skills, especially in relation to the use of specific language relevant to the course syllabus;
D. honours will be awarded in the presence of applied knowledge and understanding with reference to the syllabus, excellent judgement and communication skills.
Type of exam
The lecturer has a duty to ensure that the rules regarding the authenticity and originality of exam tests and papers are respected. Therefore, if there is suspicion of irregular conduct, an additional assessment may be conducted, which could differ from the original exam description.
