The course aims to provide the student with the communicative language skills necessary to be able to operate independently in the commercial world in English. It aims to develop knowledge of specific microlanguages in various fields related to foreign trade and tourism.

Passing the exam certifies the achievement of the B2.1 level of the CEFR

The course includes a systematic study of grammatical topics and aims to develop the communication skills necessary to operate in the field of foreign trade. It emphasizes the study of specific vocabulary related to the topics covered, such as, for example, alliances and mergers, the "workplace culture", worker training, finance and recessions, digital "disruptors" and technological evolution, worker performance, ethics in the business world.
During the course there will be exercises dedicated to the development of the four language skills with particular attention to listening and writing in the commercial context.

As from the academic year 2025/26, for students enrolling in the first year, it is not necessary to complete the English B1 OFA. However, a knowledge of English at the B1 level of the CEFR ((Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) is strongly advised in order to be able to follow the course in a profitable manner. Students who matriculated prior to this time must have completed the English B1 OFA, without which the English 1 exam cannot be registered.
