Contribution of the course to the overall degree programme goals
During the lessons, some detailed studies will be offered, in order to let the student acquire the tools for the study of ancient Egypt. These skills will contribute to the training in a wider context of historical-archaeological disciplines.
The course is integrated with Egyptology II, dedicated to the study of Egyptian written culture.

Assessment methods
Written exam: Structure of the exam: 5 open-ended questions (average 0 to 30 each question) and 5 multiple choice questions (correct: 6; wrong: 0). Final grade: average of the 6 open-ended questions and the total of the grade from the 5 multiple choice questions. The length of the written test is two hours.
Type of exam
The lecturer has a duty to ensure that the rules regarding the authenticity and originality of exam tests and papers are respected. Therefore, if there is suspicion of irregular conduct, an additional assessment may be conducted, which could differ from the original exam description.
Grading scale
- 18-22: sufficient knowledge of contents; sufficient ability to recognize sites/classes of materials; sufficient ability to interpret and connect events; sufficient communication skills, related to the use of specific language.
- 23-26: fair / reasonable knowledge of contents; fair / reasonable ability to recognize sites / classes of materials; fair / reasonable ability to interpret and connect events; fair / reasonable communication skills, in relation to the use of specific language.
- Band 27-29: good / very good knowledge of contents; good/very good ability to recognize sites / classes of materials; good / very good ability to interpret and connect events; good / very good communication skills, related to the use of specific language.

Teaching methods
Further information
Students of “Egittologia” 12 CFU (Egyptology: FT0054) must register for the partial examination, without verbalization. The 12 CFU exam (code FT0054) will be verbalized only after passing the second part of the exam (Egyptology II).
Students interested in the Ancient Near East may also choose:
History of the Ancient Near East, Assiriology, Archaeology and Art History of the Ancient Near East, Semitic Philology, Phenician-Punic Archaeology, Prehistory and protohistory of the eastern Mediterranean.
Graduation thesis: attendance and exams “Egyptology I” and “Egyptology II”; average grade not lesser than 25/30.
E-learning course. Students must remember that the whole course is on-line. Lessons are organized in five didactic sections, accessible on the web page at the bottom of the notice. Students are highly requested to be active in the forum and complete the tests at the end of each didactic unity.
Attendance to the course is necessary for the final written exam.
Prior to the start of the course, and during the five weeks of on-line teaching, meetings will be scheduled in on-line mode with an introduction to the topics of the individual teaching units, and observations on the tests that were carried out during the lessons

This subject deals with topics related to the macro-area "Climate change and energy" and contributes to the achievement of one or more goals of U. N. Agenda for Sustainable Development
