Contribution of the course to the overall degree programme goals
The course will focus on contemporary Spanish theatre. Contemporary plays will be studied, with a selection of critical texts to facilitate their contextualisation and with the support of audiovisual materials for the part related to the staging of the plays.
Expected learning outcomes
Upon completion of the Course, the student is expected to demonstrate knowledge of:
- periodization and contextualization of contemporary Spanish literary production;
- genres, currents, authors and prominent works of the period studied;
- critical approach and methodologies of analysis/interpretation of contemporary literary text.
ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
Upon completion of the Course, the student is expected to demonstrate knowledge of:
- contextualize contemporary Spanish literary production;
- critically present genres, currents, authors and prominent works of the period studied;
- apply methodologies of analysis/interpretation of contemporary literary text.
AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT
Upon completion of the Course, the student is expected to demonstrate knowledge of:
- make a critical judgment regarding the outcomes of the analysis of contemporary Spanish literary text, based on the interpretative methodologies acquired.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Upon completion of the Course, the student is expected to demonstrate knowledge of:
- communicate, with appropriate terminology and in the appropriate critical manner, the outcomes of learning about the framing, methodological approach and analysis of contemporary Spanish literary text.
LEARNING SKILLS
Upon completion of the Course, the student is expected to demonstrate that he/she has acquired autonomous learning skills and self-assessment of personal preparation in the area of contemporary Spanish literature, such as to enable him/her to undertake further studies with a high degree of autonomy.

The course will therefore focus on the study of a selection of contemporary Spanish plays that develop the themes of historical memory and post-memory. Some fundamental plays of various types (theatre, short theatre, monologues) by the playwright Laila Ripoll will be analysed.
