The course is a core component of the degree program and aims to deepen students’ understanding of the dynamics and functioning of financial markets, while providing the skills necessary to manage relationships with the banking system and the capital markets. Through the study of the operational principles of corporate and investment banking, students will gain an understanding of firms’ financial needs and the ways in which these requirements can be met by the corporate and investment banking sector.
Upon completion of the course students will gain a deeper understanding of corporate and investment banking services.

In terms of knowledge and understanding, the students will:
- understand which are the main elements that characterize corporate banking (in terms of information sources, services and instruments).

Regarding the application of knowledge and understanding, the students will:
- learn to evaluate and discuss the feasibility and appropriateness of the main corporate banking operations;
- understand how to structure and implement some of the main corporate banking operations.

In terms of judgment abilities, the students will:
- learn to present well-structured arguments to support the decision of whether or not to implement corporate banking operations.
This course assumes familiarity with the fundamentals of bank lending services and corporate finance.

The course features a written exam with both multiple-choice and open-ended questions to be completed in 45 minutes.

The lecturer has a duty to ensure that the rules regarding the authenticity and originality of exam tests and papers are respected. Therefore, if there is suspicion of irregular conduct, an additional assessment may be conducted, which could differ from the original exam description.

Regarding the grading scale (the manner in which grades will be assigned), regardless of whether one is attending or not attending:

A. Scores in the range of 18-22 will be attributed in the presence of:
Sufficient knowledge and applied understanding in reference to the program;
Limited ability to collect and/or interpret data, formulating independent judgments;
Sufficient communication skills, especially in relation to the use of specific language

B. Scores in the range of 23-26 will be attributed in the presence of:
Fair knowledge and applied understanding in reference to the program;
Fair ability to collect and/or interpret data, formulating independent judgments;
Fair communication skills, especially in relation to the use of specific language

C. Scores in the range of 27-30 will be attributed in the presence of:
Good or excellent knowledge and applied understanding in reference to the program;
Good or excellent ability to collect and/or interpret data, formulating independent judgments;
Fully appropriate communication skills, especially in relation to the use of specific language

D. Distinctions (lode) will be attributed in the presence of excellent knowledge and applied understanding in reference to the program, excellent judgment ability, and excellent communication skills.
The course consists of frontal lectures enriched by interactive sessions focused on the analysis and discussion of exercises or case studies, aimed at applying theoretical concepts to real-world situations.
All teaching materials used in class will be made available to students via the Moodle platform (www.unive.it/moodle), along with additional readings and resources.
Lectures may include guest speakers such as experts in corporate banking or investment banking.
Group work may also be included to support the development of collaborative and applied skills.
