STRATEGY, INNOVATION AND IMPACT-2

The course is the second part of the course in strategy and innovation within the program Economia e Gestione delle Aziende. The aim of the course is to provide students with the tools to understand and analyze the strategic problem by going in depth into its complexity, both in terms of formulation and organizational implications. It is thus a central course in advancing students’ knowledge of the strategic management.

Students will learn how to rigorously analyze the competitive context, the development of resources and competencies, the difference between business-level and corporate-level strategies, and strategic management in turbulent situations, with particular focus on crisis situations. Groupwork will also provide students with the possibility to test their knowledge. At the of the course students will be able to develop their own framework of refence to take strategic decision also in turbulent times using the elements seen in class and coming from the relative scientific literature.

For each session, the reference material will be indicated, together with a series of scientific articles and readings that will be placed on Moodle

The exam consists of a written test of 30 multiple-choice questions covering both parts of the course, to be completed in 30 minutes. Each correct answer will be worth 1 point, while a penalty of 0.33 points will be applied for each incorrect answer. By passing the written test, students will be able to take the oral exam to get their final grade.
The questions aim to assess knowledge of the concepts and models presented during the course, the ability to apply them to concrete examples, and a critical understanding of these concepts.
Additional points on the final grade will be awarded to students who participate in POSSIBLE training activities offered during the course, up to a maximum of +2 points.

The instructor is responsible for ensuring the authenticity and originality of all examinations and coursework. In cases of suspected academic misconduct, an additional on-site assessment may be required during the exams, which may differ from the standard format.

Regarding the grading scale (method by which grades will be assigned), regardless of attendance mode:
A. Scores in the range of 18-22 will be assigned based on:
- Sufficient knowledge and understanding applied in reference to the course curriculum;
- Limited ability to apply knowledge by forming independent judgments;
- Adequate communication skills, especially concerning the use of specific language related to the strategy and innovation areas;
B. Scores in the range of 23-26 will be assigned based on:
- Fair knowledge and understanding applied about the course curriculum;
- Fair ability to apply knowledge by forming independent judgments;
- Fair communication skills, especially concerning the use of specific language related to the strategy and innovation areas;
C. Scores in the range of 27-30 will be assigned based on:
- Good or excellent knowledge and understanding applied about the course curriculum;
- Good or excellent ability to apply knowledge by forming independent judgments;
- Fully appropriate communication skills, especially concerning the use of specific language related to the strategy and innovation areas;
D. Distinction will be awarded based on excellent knowledge and understanding applied to the curriculum, exceptional judgment, and communication skills.

The course comprises some initial lectures aimed at providing the basic knowledge of the themes of the course. Some lecture will be frontal lectures, and will be centered on specific theoretical themes. Others will be based on case presentation and discussion with the students. Moreover, some operators will be called to share their experience with the students. At the same time, students can participate in groupwork sessions aimed at matching the theoretical concepts seen in class to the real case chosen by their group. The groupwork has the central function of bridging theory and reality, and is thus key.
