It is part of the core curriculum for the TARS and EGART programs, and of the complementary curriculum for the Art History program. It is a six-credit course.

- Knowledge and understanding of the main artistic techniques other than painting, sculpture, architecture, photography and digital media, as well as their materials and processes.

- Knowledge of artifacts representing different periods and regions of European art production (within the scope described above).

- Awareness of the connections between the geography of art production and anthropic/logistical/environmental factors.

- Ability to use the proper vocabulary.

The course is open to first-, second-, and third-year students.
The course is held in Italian and in-person. Based on examples, it describes the main processes for making artefacts such as furnishings, furniture, personal accessories, and interior and exterior decorations. It will address issues such as the relationship between media and forms of use, art materials and geographic-environmental factors, technical choices and formal preferences.
They will be shared with the students on the Moodle platform of the course.

The acquisition of the knowledge and skills described above will be verified by means of a written test (maximum duration: 75 minutes). The test consists of closed-answer and open-answer questions in closed-book form. They assess the students' understanding of the topics discussed in the pdf presentations uploaded on the moodle platform.

Plagiarism (copying sentences or even syntagms from textbooks, other books, teaching materials, or online sources) implies the immediate invalidation of the proof. Exchange of information with others is not allowed during the proof.

The lecturer has a duty to ensure that the rules regarding the authenticity and originality of exam tests and papers are respected. Therefore, if there is suspicion of irregular conduct, an additional assessment may be conducted, which could differ from the original exam description.

The evaluation will consider:
- Relevance and completeness with respect to the questions
- Correctness and propriety in the use of discipline-specific language and vocabulary
- Precision
- Re-elaboration, connections

Regardless of attending or non-attending mode, in this unit the score will be graded as follows:
A. scores in the 18-21 range will be awarded in the presence of:
- sufficient knowledge and applied understanding with reference to the program;
- limited ability to collect and/or interpret data;
- sufficient communication skills, especially with respect to field terminology;
B. scores in the 22-26 range will be awarded in the presence of:
- reasonable knowledge and applied comprehension skills with reference to the program;
- fair ability to collect and/or interpret data;
- fair communication skills, especially with respect to field terminology;
C. scores in the 27-30 cum laude range will be awarded in the presence of:
- good or very good knowledge and applied comprehension skills with reference to the program;
- good or excellent ability to collect and/or interpret data, formulating autonomous judgments;
- fully appropriate communication skills, with respect to field terminology.
Frontal teaching and additional materials made available on moodle (http://moodle.unive.it ). Depending on the number of participants, one lesson will be held in front of the artworks.

Up-to-date information will be provided during the first class of the course. Non-attending students are strongly encouraged to refer to the pdf presentation for this lesson, which will be uploaded to the moodle platform and will provide them with information on the course. For further questions, they are invited to interact with the teacher during the speaking hours indicated on his personal pages (Notices section).
