The course is part of a curriculum primarily focused on the analysis of financial markets and the securities traded within them. It aims to provide an in-depth understanding of the factors underlying corporate performance through the analysis of companies' fundamental data.
After the course the student will be able to read the financial statement of a company, to analyze company performances and to assess risk profile
Basic knowledge of the financial statements and accounting tecniques
During the course it will be developed
- the financial statement analysis to detect strengths and weaknesses of the company
- the performances analysis through ratios and cash flows.
The models are developed according to the most common metrics used by financial analysts. In more detail the content of the course will be:
- The Financial Reporting System
- Analysis of Financial Statements
- Analysis of Inventories and Long-Lived Assets
- The sustainability disclosure
- Analysis of taxation,
- Analysis of debt
- Analysis of Off-Balance-Sheet Assets and Liabilities

Selected readings
Assessment will be based on a written examination consisting of three open-ended questions, covering both qualitative and quantitative aspects of the course. The examination is an open-book exam. As a guideline, each question is worth 10–11 points. A passing grade is achieved by obtaining at least 18 out of 30 points.

The instructor is responsible for ensuring the authenticity and originality of all examinations and coursework. In cases of suspected academic misconduct, an additional on-site assessment may be required during the exams, which may differ from the standard format.

A. Scores in the range of 18-22 will be assigned when:
- Adequate knowledge and applied understanding in reference to the curriculum are demonstrated.
- Limited ability to elaborate and interpret data and formulate independent judgments.
- Sufficient capabilities in the use of specific language.
B. Scores in the range of 23-26 will be assigned when:
- Good knowledge and applied understanding in reference to the curriculum are demonstrated.
- Fair ability to elaborate and interpret data and formulate independent judgments..
- Adequate capabilities in the use of specific language.
C. Scores in the range of 27-30 will be assigned when:
- Good or excellent knowledge and applied understanding in reference to the curriculum are demonstrated.
- Reasonable or excellent ability to elaborate and interpret data and formulate independent judgments..
- Good or excellent capabilities in the use of specific language.
D. Honors will be granted when there is excellent knowledge and applied understanding in reference to the
curriculum, exceptional judgment, and communication skills.
During the lessons we will have both methodological insights and practical applications with a large use of cases and simulations

This subject deals with topics related to the macro-area "Climate change and energy" and contributes to the achievement of one or more goals of U. N. Agenda for Sustainable Development
