Scientific profile

Giulia Zava is the Principal Investigator of the ESPRIT project Mapping chivalric literature: Renaud de Montauban in Europe, funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) and hosted at the Universität Klagenfurt. She earned her PhD in 2020 in a joint program (cotutelle) between Ca' Foscari University of Venice and the Université de Genève, defending a dissertation dedicated to a new critical and annotated edition of the Motti e facezie del Piovano Arlotto (supervisors: Tiziano Zanato and Roberto Leporatti; final grade: Excellent / Très Honorable). Her research focuses on Italian literature from the 14th to the 16th century, with a specific interest in Francesco Petrarca and his 15th-century reception, Matteo Maria Boiardo and the chivalric tradition, and the mechanisms of laughter in the early modern period.
