Curriculum vitae
Giulia Moro is a Tenure-Track Researcher (RTDB) in Analytical Chemistry at the Department of Molecular Sciences and Nanosystems, where she joint the Nano@Sens research group with Prof. Cristina Zanardi, Prof. Alberto Silvestri and Dr. Anna Maria Stortini.
In 2022, she obtained a Joint Ph.D. in Chemistry and Bioscience Engineering from the University of Trieste, Ca' Foscari University of Venice, and the University of Antwerp (Belgium), with a dissertation focused on the development of electrochemical and optical sensing strategies for the detection of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). During her doctoral studies, she carried out research and training periods at universities and research centres in Belgium, France, Portugal and Brazil. She was subsequently awarded an individual Postdoctoral Fellowship from the Umberto Veronesi Foundation at the University of Naples Federico II, where she developed analytical devices for the decentralized diagnosis of lung cancer. In 2023, she obtained the Italian National Scientific Qualification (ASN) for Associate Professor in Analytical Chemistry. She had a one-year working experience as Research and Development Manager at Ecoricerche S.r.l. (Bassano del Grappa, Italy), contributing to the development of innovative analytical methodologies for environmental contaminant monitoring.
Her research focuses on analytical chemistry and on the concept design and development of sensing and biosensing analytical platforms for the detection of emerging contaminants and disease biomarkers. Her scientific interests include electrochemical and optical sensors, functional materials for analytical applications, and analytical chemistry applied to cultural heritage, with particular emphasis on the characterization of polychrome and glass materials.
Passionate about science communication and citizen science, she is the Principal Investigator of the 2025/2026 Public Engagement project Sentinelle dell'Acqua, which promotes public participation in monitoring the quality of water resources.
She authored 38 peer-reviewed scientific publications and has a h-index of 19 with 1,034 citations (Scopus, July 2026). She also serves as Guest Editor and Editorial Board Member for international journals and acts as reviewer for several peer-reviewed scientific journals.
