Remi Wacogne was trained in Humanities before specializing in Social sciences at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris as well as in Management of Cultural Goods and Assets at Università Ca' Foscari and ESCP-Europe. He completed a PhD in Regional planning and public policies at Iuav University of Venice and has conducted research in this field, with a special attention for urban heritage, landscape and UNESCO World Heritage sites' management.

In addition to several research and teaching contracts at Ca' Foscari and Iuav, he has organized and is regularly invited to conferences, seminars and roundtables dedicated to the same topics, and more generally to the relationships between territories, governance and sustainable development.

He has collaborated, or is still collaborating, with the 'UNESCO site' Office at the Municipality of Venice, the Direzione Beni, attività culturali e sport at Regione del Veneto, ASviS (Alleanza Italiana per lo Sviluppo Sostenibile), the IUCN Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation, the Observatoire de l’expérimentation et de l’innovation locales della Fondation Jean Jaurès, Associazione Riabitare l'Italia and the French National Commission for Public Debate.

He is a member of Osservatorio CIvicO sulla casa e la residenza (OCIO) – Venezia.
