I am an environmental scientist and my research interests focus on the sources and processes exchanging matter and energy between different geochemical spheres: rocks, sediments and soils (lithosphere), surface and underground waters (hydrosphere), ice and snow (cryosphere), gases and aerosols (atmosphere) and the biotic component (biosphere).

My research encompasses Environmental and Isotopic Geochemistry, Atmospheric Chemistry, Aerosol Sciences, GIS, Sedimentology, community exposure and Public Health. A considerable portion of my work aimed to address many aspects of Environmental Geochemistry, including:

  • the geochemical and physical characterization of air pollution and aerosol system;
  • the development of chemometric techniques able to solve the mixture resolution problem of environmental data;
  • the characterization, identification and quantification of emission sources (source apportionment);
  • the analysis of the hydrological cycle through stable isotope Geochemistry;
  • the analysis of long-term series of data;
  • the human and community exposure to natural and anthropogenic materials.
