Elena Valeri is a fixed-term Researcher (Type A) in Aesthetics at the Department of Philosophy and Cultural Heritage, Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and Principal Investigator of the EU-funded project “WITT-ART – Wittgenstein in Modern and Contemporary Art” (SOE2024_0000148, CUP: H73C24001980001).

She holds a BA and an MA in Philosophy from Ca’ Foscari University, and a postgraduate specialisation diploma and a PhD in Philosophy from the School of Advanced Studies “Sciences of Culture” at the San Carlo Foundation in Modena.

Her research focuses primarily (a) on Wittgenstein, aesthetics, and the arts, with particular attention to the relationship between philosophical inquiry and artistic practice, and (b) on issues concerning the relationship between meaning and experience in the contemporary philosophy of language and aesthetics. She has published essays on these topics and authored Italian translations, including the new Italian translation of Wittgenstein’s Philosophical Investigations (Feltrinelli, 2024).

She is a member of the CLAVeS research centre, the Austrian Ludwig Wittgenstein Society (ALWS), the Società italiana di filosofia del linguaggio (SFL) and the Società italiana di estetica (SIE); she is an editor of the journal JoLMA – The Journal for the Philosophy of Language, Mind and the Arts and of the “Philosophica” book series (Edizioni Ca’ Foscari).
