I obtained my PhD in Linguistics from Ghent University (UGent) in 2024. My thesis focused on the qualitative and quantitative analysis of changes to the vowel system in Latin inscriptions from Rome between 250 BCE and 600 CE. I have also studied epigraphic forgeries and the transmission of the Latin literary tradition in the 19th century CE. I am currently a research grant holder at Ca'Foscari University of Venice, working on the ERC project Digital Latin Dialectology (DiLaDi). My primary focus here is on non-literary Latin in documentary sources from the early Middle Ages (Chartae Latinae Antiquiores).
My research approach combines traditional epigraphy and philology with historical sociolinguistics, as well as quantitative and statistical methodology. This aims to provide new, data-driven insights into questions that have long been addressed through qualitative methods alone.
