Biographical notes: Michele Bernasconi, born in Pavia (Italy), march 27th 1961. Laurea in Economia e commercio (110/110 cum laude), Università di Pavia (1985); Doctor of Philosophy, Department of Economics, University of York, UK (1991).
Current position: Professor of Public Economics at University Cà Foscari, since 2008. He served as Head of the Department of Economics for period 2020-2023.
Previous occupations: Professor of Public Economics (period 2000-2008) and Head of the Department of Economics (2006-2008), University of Insubria, Varese; Associate Professor of Economics, University “Federico II” of Naples (1998-2000); Jean Monnet Fellow, European University Institute, Florence (1996-97); Assistant Professor of Public Finance, University of Pavia (1994-98); British Academy Post-doctoral fellow, University of York (UK) (1992-94); Research officer, Institute of Economics and Statistics, University of Oxford (1991-92).
Scientific interests in public finance, behavioral economics and experimental economic, decision theories, economics of inequality. Publications in the field of interests include articles in journals, including Economic Journal, Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Monetary Economics, European Economic Review, International Tax and Public Finance, European Journal of Political Economy, Games Economic Behaviour, Journal of Risk and Uncertainty, Management Science.
He served as President of SIEP, the "Società Italiana di Economia Pubblica" (SIEP), for the period 2015-2018 and was member of the SIEP Council for the period 2000-2003 and 2018-2021.
