He received his Ph.D. from Bocconi University, Milan, and is currently Full Professor of Organizational Theory and Design at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. He is academic Fellow at SDA Bocconi School of Management (Graduate School of Business), Milan.

He is a member of the Department of Management (Venic School of Management) at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, where he teaches Organizational Theory and Organization and Human Resource Management. He also serves as Co-Director of the International Management to Asia Laboratory at Ca’ Foscari University.

He has held several academic appointments at national and international institutions. He has been affiliated as Affiliate Professor at IN-SAT, Research Laboratory Sant’Anna, School of Advanced Studies, Pisa.

He has served as Professor of Organization and Human Resource Management at the Faculty of Economics and as Invited Professor of Organizational Structures and Human Resource Management at the Faculty of Communication Sciences at the University of Italian Switzerland (USI), Lugano. He has also been Adjunct Professor of Organization and Banking at the University of Rome Tor Vergata and Scientific Director of ORG-LAB (Laboratory of Organizational Studies) at the University of Cassino.

He has been Visiting Scholar and Visiting Professor at several leading international institutions, including HEC Paris, Harvard Business School, University of St. Gallen, Kingston University, Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Wien), ESADE Business School (Barcelona), IMD (Lausanne/Geneva), University of Michigan, Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Southern California, UCLA Anderson School of Management, Freie Universität Berlin, HEC Lyon, IESE (Buenos Aires), and Zhejiang University (Hangzhou).

He serves on editorial boards and scientific committees of Ph.D. and Master programs in Italian and European business schools.

His primary research interests concern organizational effectiveness and the design of new organizational forms. His current research focuses on emerging organizational configurations and organizational learning. His main theoretical interests include application of machine learning based computational methods to organizational design. Second area of interest is the development of game-based learning experience for research and teaching. He currently leads research projects on:

International management of SMEs in Asian markets;
Adoption and use of innovative method of analysis and design of organizational forms;
Development of Assembly theory in the network analysis to support organizational hybrid forms.
Intellectual Property Rights and Open Access in scientific publishing industry,
