Federico Pupo

He began studying violin at a very young age at the “F. Manzato” Music High School in Treviso, subsequently graduating from the Bologna Conservatory after obtaining his Maturity Teacher Training.

He has performed chamber music especially in the Baroque repertoire, with important instrumental ensembles (Sonatori de la Gioiosa Marca, Concerto Palatino, Clavier Ensamble, Orchestra Barocca di Venezia, Accademia Strumentale Italiana) and for important musical institutions and in prestigious halls and theaters both in Italy and abroad (Radio della Svizzera Italiana, Innsbruck and Regensburg Festivals, Accademia Chigiana in Siena, Settimane Musicali in Ascona, Sala Verdi in Milan, Semperoper in Dresden).

Since 1980 he has played in the Orchestra Filarmonia Veneta as Concertino dei Secondi Violini; since 1989 he has taken on the role of Organizational Secretary of the same, with the task of assisting the Artistic Direction in the programming and organization of the musical seasons at the Teatro Comunale di Treviso and for the decentralization activity in the regional territory.

He has collaborated for some years with the Solisti Veneti for the artistic organization of record productions and concert activities.

He has created listening guide projects, conferences and concert-lessons for compulsory schools and for the Third Age. He has taught Music Education for about 15 years in the Lower Middle School and Teacher Training School; he has also taught violin at the Toti Dal Monte Music Institute in Pieve di Soligo and at the Manzato Music High School in Treviso.

Since its foundation (1986), he has been a member of the Promotion Committee of the International Organ Festival “Città di Treviso e della Marca Trevigiana”, an organization that promotes organ literature on historical instruments of the Venetian School, which is abundant in the province of Treviso and the entire region.

For twelve years, on behalf of the Municipality of Treviso and the Tourist Promotion Agency, he has created the project “Music in the City”, a series of concerts hosted in the most evocative places of the historic center: baroque and romantic music, jazz, contemporary music, opera and choral singing have found space in the squares, under the porticoes, in the ancient churches and cloisters of the city.

From 1995 to 1996 he was Head of Musical Services of the Teatro Comunale di Treviso, dealing with the coordination of musical activity and in particular for that of the Opera Season with specific reference to the problems related to the orchestra’s staff and following all the production phases of the shows.

Since December 1995 he has been Artistic Director of Asolo Musica - Veneto Musica, an association that organizes over 150 musical events in the region in collaboration with the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and the Veneto Region. In particular, he takes care of the program of the prestigious International Chamber Music Festival "Incontri Asolani" which, now in its thirtieth edition, hosts the most important and acclaimed interpreters of chamber music every year.

In 1997 he held the role of Head of Programming and Artistic Organization Service at the Ente Lirico Arena di Verona; the same organization appointed him the following year, Artistic Director of the 76th Arena Festival.

From 2000 to 2018 he was Organizational Director of Teatri S.p.A., an instrumental company of the Cassamarca Foundation of Treviso, whose activity is aimed at the programming and management of cultural initiatives to be held at the facilities entrusted to its management and in particular at the Teatro Comunale and the Teatro Eden of Treviso.

From January 2005 to February 2008 he was Artistic Director for the lyrical-musical activities of the Pergolesi Spontini Foundation of Jesi; in particular he curated the programming of the Pergolesi Spontini Festival, which takes place in the summer in the main towns of the Vallesina, and of the Traditional Opera Season in the historic Teatro Pegolesi of Jesi.

From 2009 to 2018 he was Project Director for the Higher Education activities of the technical and artistic professional figures of the show, following the accreditation of Teatri S.p.A. by the Veneto Region.

From October 2011 to December 2020 he was Director of the Antonio Salieri Foundation of Legnago.

From May 2017 to May 2023 Artistic Director of the Concert Season of the Teatro Comunale of Monfalcone.

From the academic year 2011-2012 he taught, as a contract professor, Entertainment Industry at the Ca' Foscari University of Venice.

He taught Entertainment Organization and Production at the conservatories of Venice, Padua and Ferrara

Since 2020 he has been President of the Settimane Musicali association at the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza.

In February 2023 the Veneto Region appointed him as a member of the Board of Directors of the Fondazione Arena di Verona and, in December 2023, as a member of the Board of Directors of Arteven - regional association for the promotion and dissemination of theater and culture in the Veneto communities.

In March 2024 the Ministry of Culture appointed him to the National Committee for the Puccini celebrations.

Since June 2025 he has been Artistic Director of the Fondazione Carlo Felice in Genoa

For his merits acquired in the field of culture, he was awarded the Honor of Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic and received the Paul Harris Fellow, an honor from Rotary International, from the Rotary Club Treviso Terraglio.
