Alessandro Mistrorigo is Associate Professor of Spanish Literature in the Department of Linguistics and Comparative Cultural Studies at Ca' Foscari University of Venice.

His research explores the intersections of contemporary Hispanic poetry, Voice Studies, transmediality, and the digital humanities, with particular attention to the relationships between voice, text, performance, archives, and cultural memory. His work combines literary criticism, sound studies, and media theory to investigate how poetry circulates across languages, media, and cultural contexts.

A central focus of his research is the study of poetic voice as an aesthetic, interpretative, and cultural phenomenon. Since 2020, he has directed PHONODIA (https://phonodia.unive.it/), an international digital archive of poets' voices that documents and studies authors' recorded readings and interviews, promoting innovative methodologies for the critical listening of poetry and the preservation of intangible cultural heritage.

His recent research has expanded towards Ibero-American Cultural Geographies, examining literary mobility, transnational cultural networks, poetic landscapes, and the circulation of texts and artistic practices between Europe and Latin America. He is currently Head of the Ca' Foscari research unit within the national PRIN project Transmediality: Media, Science, Genres, Arts in Panhispanic Poetry (1980–2022) and participates in the international research project Geografias Culturais Ibero-Americanas: Paisagens, Contato, Linguagens.

He is the author of the monographs Los «Diálogos del conocimiento» de Vicente Aleixandre. La potencia de la palabra poética (2015), Phonodia. La voz de los poetas. Uso crítico de sus grabaciones y entrevistas (2018), and La narrativa breve de Vicente Soto. Una aproximación (2020), as well as numerous articles on contemporary Hispanic poetry, voice studies, transmediality, cultural geographies, and literary translation.

Alongside his research, he is an active literary translator from Spanish into Italian. His translations include works by Armando Romero, Pablo García Baena, Virginia Navalón, Vicente Soto, and Ben Clark. He also serves as Director of the Ibéricas book series (Sinopia Libri) and is a member of the editorial boards of Rassegna Iberistica and Caracol.

Before joining Ca' Foscari as Associate Professor, he was Visiting Research Fellow at Queen Mary University of London (2008–2012), where he also taught in the Comparative Literature and Culture programme. During the same period he taught at London Metropolitan University and Royal Holloway, University of London. He has since held visiting professorships and research appointments at several international universities, including the University of São Paulo, the University of Campinas, the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, the University of Alcalá, the University of Murcia, and the University of Málaga.
