The RUS - University Network for Sustainable Development, is the first experience of coordination and sharing between all Italian universities committed to the topic of environmental sustainability and social responsibility. Formally established in the CRUI in July 2016, Ca’ Foscari was among the promoting universities.
On 10 July 2017 the Ca' Foscari University of Venice hosted the first conference [IT] of the "Rete delle Università per lo Sviluppo sostenibile". The main topic of the conference is the education in the italian universities for sustainable development, with the presentation of best practices to promote existing projects and to develop new ideas.
The RUS principal goal is the diffusion of culture and good practices of sustainability, whether within or external to the Universities, sharing skills and experience, with the aim to increase the positive impacts in terms of the environmental, ethical, social and economic actions implemented by each university, furthermore enforcing the recognisability and the value of the Italian experience on an International level.
The RUS is set as a model of good practice by extending to other sectors of P.A, education and the general territory, incentivising the development of collaborations with university and city, spreading social innovation over the territory and providing cultural stimuli for the entire country’s system, with the purpose of promoting new national politics for sustainability and sustainable growth that support the dialogue between economic participants.
All universities linked to the CRUI and other non-profit organisations, whose institutional goals are coherent with the RUS objectives, can adhere. Today around 50 universities have shown the intention to adhere to this network, among which are the universities that make up the Promoting Committee, such as Ca’ Foscari, that currently has assumed the role of Organizational Secretary.
The network has a Committee of Coordination for a term of three years, with the responsibility of addressing and monitoring the network’s activities, defining different Work Groups that will be committed to topics considered as a priority in order to achieve the RUS institutional objectives.
