Fee Reductions and Exemptions

Agevolazioni economiche

If you are a student with a recognised disability, you are entitled to various forms of financial aid ranging from complete exemption from tuition fees to a reduction based on the percentage of disability.

If you are a student enrolled in subsequent years, you are required to report any variations in the declared percentage of disability to the Financial Aid and Disability, Equity and Inclusion Office ( inclusione@unive.it) which will in turn report it to the competent office.

Students with a recognised disability rated at 66 percent or more

If you are a student with a disability rated at 66 percent or more under article 3, paragraph 1 of Italian Law no. 104 of 5 February 1992 you are entitled to a complete exemption from your tuition fees (with the exception of the possible stamp duty). The 16 EUR stamp duty is due only for students enrolled to their first year and for students enrolled after withdrawal/loss of student status/transfer from another University.

To request exemption:

  • if you are enrolling in your first year, you should declare the percentage of recognised disability when you make your online  pre-enrolment, remembering to upload disability certification. The following documents are accepted:

    • Certification of disability rated at 66 percent or more;
    • Certification of handicap recognised pursuant to art.3 of Italian Law no.104 of 5 February 1992;
    • Certification of speech- and hearing-impairment;
    • Certification of partial or complete visual impairment;
    • Certification of occupational disability rated at 66 percent or more;
    • Certification of military service disability classified in categories 1, 2, and 3 of Table A annexed to Italian Law of 10 August 1950, no. 648.

Certification must be issued by the Public Commissions responsible for certifying the various types of disability.
Alternatively, students may submit the ruling of the competent civil judge recognising one of the above-listed disabilities;

  • if you are a student enrolled in subsequent years, the amount will be calculated automatically on the basis of the certification submitted when you enrolled in the first year of your studies. If the percentage of your disability has changed since then, you will need to send the updated documentation to Financial aid, Disability, Equity and Inclusivity Office ( inclusione@unive.it) which will in turn report it to the competent office.

Warning

The university is required by law to carry out random checks to confirm the truthfulness and accuracy of the information submitted in self-certification. Making a false statement is not only a criminal offence but will lead to administrative penalties being applied.

In addition, there are personalised merit requirements for the award of maintenance grants, as described in the call for applications.

Students with a disability rated from 50 to 65 percent

If you are a student with a disability rated from 50 to 65 percent and enrolled to a.y. 2022/2023 you are entitled to a  400 EUR reduction of the amount of  tuition fees regardless of your merit/income requirements, on condition that you are not a part-time student and you are enrolled in your course of study no more than one year behind schedule. In any case, you can request the reductions of tuition fees on the bases of your ISEE value only if you submit the benefit application and ISEE certification and::

  • meet all the requirements for obtaining the reductions of tuition fees calculated on the basis of your ISEE certification;
  • the ISEE certification is equal to or less than the maximum amount of 60,000 EUR.

The benefit is a reduction from the tuition fees. You may have this benefit only if you haven't had a complete exemption from tuition fees (eligible for/winner of regional scholarship, etc.)
